'The Innocent' brand archetype: 10 reasons why your business might also be a quiet achiever

"I bet we've been together for a million years (and I bet we'll be together for a million more...)"

"The meaning of life? That's simple. Try to be happy, try not to hurt other people, and hope to fall in love."

Unexpectedly wise words from the young, supremely likeable and awkwardly affable Mallory Keaton from Family Ties. Meet this week's brand archetype, 'The Innocent.'

Much to the dismay of her older brother, Alex, she believed that everything was simple. And simplicity was beautiful. But her innocence, passion for fashion and simply beautiful facade belied her underlying talent and intelligence.

May I introduce to you, the purest of all the brand archetypes. The purest of them all because they display optimism, honesty and humility in equal measure.

Is your business brand an 'Innocent' archetype? Read on to see how you measure up:

The glass is ALWAYS half full: You don't necessarily see the world through rose-coloured glasses, but if a cup is not runneth-ing over, it'll most certainly be half full. And if it's not, you'll be the type to fill others' cups before your own.

You always give peace a chance: You lead with love, always.

You'd rather lift spirits than drink them: You'll be the first to nurture positive relationships and foster a sense of belonging.

Complexity is the enemy: Complications and ambiguity are not your friends. In fact, they can rattle you to the core. So you tend to side-step them when they present themselves.

You'll take the roses over the guns every single time: In fact, you'll stop to smell the roses, then tell everyone about the reasons they should smell the roses because the roses smell divine.

You cannot comprehend people or businesses that proactively seek to destroy each other: You're dismayed when you learn about businesses that put profits ahead of sentient beings (animals included).

You plan for the worst, but always hope for the best: Others should mistake your kindness and optimism for a lack of substance at their peril. You're motivated by nurturing the wellbeing of the world, but you're also motivated by doing things very well in order to achieve this.

Where there's no ill-will, there's a way: you know that a life lived in harmony is the only way.

You see living people: You're the most likely archetype to smile at a stranger and ensure everyone feels valuable and visible. You'll see beauty on the inside, just as much as you see beauty on the outside.

You'd much prefer a gilded gold + marble topped coffee table to making others feel guilty: You might be a humble, honest and optimistic individual or business, but you're not a martyr and you reserve your judgement for things that matter; like which pair of shoes will go with that gorgeous outfit to make that gorgeous person look and feel incredible.

I'll leave you with a typical exchange between siblings, Alex and Mallory:

Mallory: "Alex, I told you whenever you take a message to write down who called, when they called, and what it was about."

Alex: "I did. Somebody stupid called, sometime today, about something trivial."

Mallory: "Alex, you know that could be ANY one of my friends!"

(Shah-la-la-lah...Sit Ubu, sit. Good dog. WOOF)

Earth Choice, Kora Organics and Nude by Nature are all 'Innocent' brands.
